VIRGINIA VACATION

va.ca.tion [vey-key-shuh n ] noun - a period of time used for suspension of work, study, or other activity, usually used for rest, recreation, or travel; freedom or release from duty, business, or other responsibilities.

Vacations can be such a wonderful invigorating time. At times they seem to be life saving, which was the case for my husband and I. We adventured off to the beautiful state of Virginia and spend 5 days visiting with some wonderful friends and taking in some of the sights. Getting out of California and going somewhere that offered clean air, blue skies and really nice people was a great use of time. The last two months have been a real challenge for us physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. This recent trip was as good as going on a religious retreat! We were very lucky and had great weather. We love the seasonal changes in VA at this time of year.

We drove from central VA up towards Washington D.C. partially traveling on the Blue Ridge Parkway but at the end we detoured off to go to the Luray Caverns just north of Harrisonburg. WOW, what a natural beauty. One should definitely experience going to one of these caverns. The beauty is awesome. Here are a few of the pictures my husband took from inside the caverns. We have another 200+ but this gives you an idea.

Hope you enjoyed lookng at a few of these pics, quite an incredible sight.
We are now back in CA, where today we are dealing with the rain, that has brought on the mudslides. Such a lively state to live in...fires, mudslides, earthquakes, riots, bankruptcy...geez who wouldn't want to live here!?
Oh well, thank goodness for digital cameras!! Having all the wonderful pictures of our adventure and being able to pull the up on the computer at any moment makes for a nice getaway from the bleakness of outdoors.
